A donor establishes a fund with us as a separate, named account, with a purpose defined by the donor. Donors determine the name of the fund, typically using their own names or the name of a person to be honored. A donor who wishes to remain anonymous may choose a general name or a number to designate the fund.
There are three primary means to initiate a gift:
Give Now: An immediate gift to the community foundation creates a fund from which grants can be made during the donor’s lifetime and in perpetuity. Many donors regularly add money to already established funds. You can donate to any existing funds online by clicking the graphic below. Please remember to fill in the fund you want your donation to be applied to.
Defer Your Giving: Other donors set up funds through deferred-giving arrangements. A key feature of many estate plans is a tax advantage now for the commitment of a charitable gift later. Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Lead Trusts and gifts of real estate, life insurance or retirement plan assets can all be used.
Leave A Legacy: After personal bequests have been made, donors may leave a gift to the community foundation through a charitable provision in a will or trust. We created the Legacy Society to acknowledge the future benevolence of any person who has had the forethought to create a fund with us in this manner. Members of our Legacy Society are recognized in our publications and at special events, and receive the full benefit of the foundation staff’s estate and gift planning expertise.
