Rick Glenn Memorial Scholarship Fund
This annual scholarship was established in 2007 by the parents of Rick Glenn, who passed away on August 26, 2006. Rick was a 1980 graduate of Mercer Area High School and valedictorian of his class. He attended Penn State University and graduated with honors in 1984 with a B.S. in electrical engineering with an emphasis in computers. Rick had a successful career working with IBM for 14 years in New York and Minnesota. However, he thought something was missing from his career and that he had more to offer. Rick had a desire to help people and chose physical therapy as the medium to do so. He was accepted into the Mayo School of Health-Related Sciences in 1998 and graduated in 2000 with a master's degree in physical therapy.
He ended his career very much satisfied as a physical therapist and enjoyed being able to make a significant impact in many people's lives. He was a hard worker and always put his patients first.


Arthur S. Goldstone Memorial Foundation
Art Goldstone was an outstanding husband, father and businessman. Upon his death on June 6, 2002, his family and friends created this Foundation through memorial contributions to perpetuate his memory. Mr. Goldstone was the former owner and operator fo Goldstein’s Furniture Co., which operates several locations throughout eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvnia. He was a member of Temple Beth Israel in Sharon, where he served as a past treasurer. An active member of the community, Mr. Goldstone served on several boards, including the Strimbu Memorial Fund, Salvation Army, Shenango Valley Industrial Development Corp. and Penn State Shenango Campus Advisory Board. In his personal time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and fishing.

Grace Mission to Haiti Foundation
Established in May 2006, this fund seeks to support financially and materially the various ministries of Grace Baptist Mission in Haiti or other similar Christian organizations, including but not limited to church planting, evangelism, education, nutrition programs, health care ministries, Bible Colleges, and capital projects. The Foundation will also support administrative and organizational expenses necessary to accomplish this stated purpose. Grace Baptist Mission in Haiti is a parallel organization to Grace Mission to Haiti in the United States.

Grata Family Foundation

The purpose of the Fund is to provide charitable funds for the administrative fund of the Shenango Valley Foundation and its affiliates, to promote general charitable enhancement of our local community.

Greater Sharon Associates Foundation
The purpose of this fund, which was established in 2007, is to provide funds to support the mission as a non-profit organization dedicated to stimulating the economic and artistic growth of Sharon, Pa., through the collaborative efforts of local businesses, community, faith-based organizations and government.

Edward W. Greenberger Charitable Fund
This endowment was established in conjunction with Penn State Shenango to enable the local campus to bring renowned speakers to the Shenango Valley. The lectures provide a fitting tribute to Edward W. Greenberger, who felt higher education was very important to our community.

Brian Daniel Grgurich Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003, this fund seeks to honor the memory of Brian Daniel Grgurich by providing an annual scholarship for a graduating senior involved in the Hickory High School track program attending a college or university.

Joyce Grimenstein Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund was created by the family and friends of Joyce Grimenstein who was a devoted to her family, friends and serving the community she loved. This fund will provide scholarship funds for a graduating senior in high academic standing at Sharon High School who is of strong character and is devoted to family, friends, school and the community.

Edgar Groves Music Fund
Within the Hermitage School District Mr. Edgar Groves is a legend. With a musical ear trained to perfection and a passion for education he trained a generation of students to appreciate the value of music and the performing arts. This fund provides a scholarship to a student from the Hermitage School District. This fund is coordinated in conjunction with the Artman-Hermitage Educational Fund.

Charles and Norma Hamilton Charitable Foundation
This fund will serve to provide funding for worthwhile charitable causes. The primary beneficiaries of this foundation will be United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the City Rescue Mission in New Castle, Pa., and the Guadalupe Mission to Feed
Migrant Workers in Florida. The donor may also make additional grants to charities of their choice.

Brenda Rae Haun Memorial Fund
Brenda Rae Haun was a gifted student athlete. Both on and off the field she exemplified tremendous strength and character. This scholarship was created by her parents to honor their daughter whose life ended prematurely. The Haun Family strives to give the youth of our community the knowledge that the citizens of Brookfield Township have confidence in them. Youth are the future – everyone’s future – and through this scholarship a positive attitude
is displayed for their endeavors.

H.E.L.P. Foundation
The purpose of the Fund is to provide funds for Helping to Evangelize Lost People with the gospel of Jesus Christ through providing grants or matching grants to organizations, churches, groups and individuals who are actively involved the ministry of evangelism. The H.E.L.P. Foundation will also utilize funds itself as the foundation’s staff and volunteers participate in and promote evangelism through special projects.

The Herald-Good News Fund
This fund was started in 1993 by The Herald, a daily newspaper in Sharon, to help provide turkeys and other food at Christmas to families that ordinarily would be unable to afford a holiday staple. The year-around fund is coordinated by the Herald in conjunction with the Community Food warehouse of the Shenango Valley and its network of 36 pantries throughout Mercer County. Each year, the fund provides the area’s less fortunate with more than 1,200 turkeys. The Herald has been the county’s leading source of news and advertising information since 1864.

Clair & Sara Hetrick Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2005, this fund seeks to honor the memory of Clair and Sara Hetrick by providing an annual scholarship to be presented to a graduating high school senior that is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon, Pa. The recipients of the scholarship shall be evaluated and selected by the church and shall meet the following criteria: community service, scholastic achievement and demonstrate that they have been accepted into a college or university. In the event there is not a qualified candidate from the church, the scholarship shall be made available to local students that meet the aforementioned criteria.

Hickory High Wall of Fame Fund
The purpose of the Fund is to recognize the accomplishments of Hickory High students, both past and present, through commemorative decorations that reflect the accomplishment of these students. The wall of fame will be located within the newly refurbished Hickory High School. This fund is coordinated in conjunction with the Artman-Hermitage Educational Fund.

Hickory High School Class of 1951 Memorial Fund
The purpose of this scholarship fund is to provide an annual scholarship for graduating seniors from Hickory High School who demonstrate a positive attitude to succeed and are pursuing higher education goals.

Gladys & Raymond Hilkirk Scholarship Fund
This fund was created through a bequest from the estate of Gladys Hilkirk. The purpose of this charitable fund is to provide a scholarship annually to one male and female senior student graduating from the Hermitage School District. This fund is coordinated in conjunction with the Artman-Hermitage Educational Fund.

Jong Sen Hsu Scholarship Fund
Jong Sen Hsu was a devoted husband, father and businessman who found a place to call home within the Shenango Valley. Over the years his family has benefited greatly from living within this community. His family has decided to memorialize him by establishing a scholarship that will benefit graduating seniors continuing their education from Hickory High School.

Hudson Charitable Fund
Established by John and Mark Hudson, Susan Hunter and Mark Voytik in 1994 to benefit children and families of our valley in times of need. Over the past twelve years the Hudson fund has assisted in various adoptions, specifically assisting families sponsoring children with special needs. Hudson Fund also provides short term medical and housing allowances for families with ill children as well as funding for the Otis Whitman Scholarship Fund. Serving the needs of children and families living in and around the Shenango Valley.

Humane Society of Mercer County Foundation
It is the mission of the Mercer County Humane Society to provide humane care and treatment of all animals needing protection in the area served by the society, take appropriate action when necessary in cases of animal cruelty, seek to return lost animals to their owner, work with the public to increase awareness of the Society's objectives and the importance of responsible pet care, and provide euthanasia when necessary. This Foundation will allow concerned citizens to leave a legacy through charitable donations.

Melvina Ilgenfritz Estate Fund
This fund was created as a trust in the early 1900s to perpetuate the goodwill of Mrs. Ilgenfritz by benefiting orphan children at Christmas. In recent years the income from the fund has been designated to the Salvation Army to use during the holiday season.

The Ralph/Ethel Infante and Daniel J. Holiga Mercer County Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in August 2008 in memory of Ralph and Ethel Infante and Daniel J. Holiga to provide funding for Mercer County students who are college bound and/or currently enrolled in a secondary education institution.
